The Syrian parliament has denounced as “invalid” the 1917 Balfour Declaration, which set out Britain’s aim to establish a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine, saying the Syrian government and nation will continue to support Palestinians until full restoration of their legitimate rights.
The parliament, in a statement released on the 104th anniversary of the ominous treaty, said the declaration was made by those who were in no position to do so and granted rights to those who do not deserve such privileges.
The treaty is, therefore, in clear contravention of the most fundamental standards of international law, it stressed.

Dat laat demissionair minister Grapperhaus van Justitie en Veiligheid weten, die het voorstel op zeer korte termijn naar de Tweede Kamer hoopt te sturen.
Het wetsvoorstel volgt op berichtgeving van het NRC dat de NCTV, jarenlang in strijd met de wet, privacygevoelige informatie over burgers verzamelde en verspreidde. A whistleblower involved in Pfizer’s pivotal phase III Covid-19 vaccine trial has leaked evidence to a notable peer-reviewed medical publication that poor practices at the contract research company she worked for raise questions about data integrity and regulatory oversight.
Brook Jackson, a now-fired regional director at Ventavia Research Group, revealed to The BMJ that vaccine trials at several sites in Texas last year had major problems – including falsified data, broke fundamental rules, and were ‘slow’ to report adverse reactions.
When she notified superiors of the issues she found, they fired her.

De Commissie van Toezicht op de Inlichtingen- en Veiligheidsdiensten (CTIVD) heeft de Tweede Kamer gewaarschuwd voor een aanpassing van de Wet op de inlichtingen- en veiligheidsdiensten (Wiv 2017), omdat die voor een hiaat in het toezicht zorgt, zo stelt de toezichthouder.
De Wet op de inlichtingen- en veiligheidsdiensten werd op 1 mei 2018 van kracht en geeft de AIVD en MIVD nieuwe bevoegdheden voor het onderscheppen en opslaan van internetverkeer van de kabel, alsmede een uitgebreidere hackbevoegdheid. In het regeerakkoord werd overeengekomen dat de Wiv 2017 na de inwerkingtreding binnen twee jaar zal worden geëvalueerd door een onafhankelijke commissie. Die pleitte eerder dit jaar voor een aanpassing van de wet.
