The Irish Data Privacy Commissioner (DPC) voiced its concerns over the glasses on Friday. The smart glasses, manufactured by Facebook in cooperation with Ray-Ban, were unveiled by the tech giant last week. The device drew not only the media’s eye, but also the close attention of authorities in a number of countries.
Italy’s watchdog Garante Privacy asked the DPC to solicit some answers from the tech giant on whether the device is actually in compliance with privacy laws. The Irish privacy watchdog is the EU’s leading body in dealing with Facebook, as the European operation of the tech giant is headquartered in Dublin.

Restaurant WAKU WAKU was vanavond het toneel van protesten rondom het corona-toegangsbewijs. Omdat de horecagelegenheid aan het Vredenburg in de binnenstad van Utrecht weigert QR-codes te controleren aan de deur, moest het restaurant vandaag sluiten van de burgemeester. De eigenaren weigerden dat en openden alsnog de deuren. Politieagenten werden opgetrommeld, maar een groep sympathisanten had zich in de tussentijd ook op het Vredenburg verzameld.

The Google-owned video service “has deleted the RT DE channel, as well as our second channel DFP [Der Fehlende Part, “the missing piece”], without the right to restoration,” Dinara Toktosunova, head of RT in Germany, announced on her Telegram channel on Tuesday.
The main RT DE channel was barred from live-streaming and uploading videos for seven days since September 21, on the basis of a strike over “community guidelines” violations, for alleged “medical misinformation” in four videos. YouTube did not elaborate on what specifically was questionable in the clips. The videos, some weeks while others months old, focused on the Covid-19 crisis. They featured, among others, an interview with German epidemiologist Friedrich Puerner, who was critical of the governmental ways of battling the pandemic.

In the statement, released on Wednesday morning, the country’s national media regulator, Roskomnadzor, said that it “demands all restrictions be lifted from the YouTube channels RT DE and Der Fehlende Part (DFP), run by the news outlet RT, as soon as possible.”
According to the authorities, failure to do so would be a violation of Russian law and, “for such actions, an internet resource can be designated as breaching fundamental human rights and freedoms,” and can face a formal warning.
“In the event that the owner of the platform doesn’t comply with the warning, legislation allows us to take measures including completely or partially blocking access to it,” Roskomnadzor added.

The Police Commissioner of New South Wales has refused to enforce the state’s vaccine passport mandate, revealing that officers will not be checking people’s vaccination status in restaurants, clubs or bars.
The government is preparing to pass a mandate that will ban all unvaccinated people from gaining entry to numerous venues up until at least December 1st in a repeat of the segregation scheme that has been adopted in numerous western countries.

The government in Ottawa reportedly didn’t authorise a covert propaganda operation against its own citizens, according to a plan designed by Canada’s military leadership.
The Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) used the COVID-19 pandemic to test its propaganda techniques – similar to those used during the Afghanistan war – on its own citizens, the daily newspaper Ottawa Citizen reported, citing documents obtained through the Access to Information law.
